Mental Health Providers: What to Know About PPD, PPA, and PMADS in Black Women
A critical panel discussion focused on raising awareness about perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs), including postpartum depression (PPD) and postpartum anxiety (PPA). Experts will discuss the unique challenges Black women face in recognizing and addressing these conditions, as well as the impact of loss on mental health. This panel aims to provide valuable insights, support, and resources to help Black mothers navigate these experiences with greater understanding and care.
  • What resources are available for women when they suffer loss? 
  • How to navigate the feelings of guilt or numbness? 
  • How to know when to reach out for additional support? 
  • How to show up and support others who have suffered loss? How can we be gentle with patients/clients when they are coming in for service and asking how many pregnancies they’ve experienced?
  • How long do our hormones impact us emotionally after a loss and how to know when it’s more than grief? 
  • How to advocate for what you need to heal and the options available?
